Alderman Sharon Denise Dixon envisions a 24th Ward where residents and businesses can prosper in a healthy environment. Her agenda includes:

 

  • Safe, orderly neighborhoods
  • Fighting drugs, crime and violence
  • Involved leadership that fosters law and order
  • Cooperation between citizens and police
  • Clean neighborhoods
  • Installing new trash cans
  • Cleaning up some 2,000 littered, overgrown vacant lots
  • Economic development
  • Encouraging expanding businesses to hire qualified residents of the 24th Ward
  • Fostering development in the area’s prime business locations such as Ogden Avenue, which is historic Route 66, and Albany Avenue
  • Supporting the proposed Ogden-Pulaski Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District
  • Housing opportunity
  • Affordable housing for low-income people
  • Reasonably-priced housing for middle class residents
  • High-end housing to generate tax revenue that will help fund affordable housing
