The application for Mayor Daley's Youth Ready Chicago, which offers summer jobs, apprenticeships and internships, is available at www.youthreadychicago.org through June 4th. Young people ages 14-24 are welcome to apply online and can also explore the website for valuable information on resume writing and interviewing tips.
The summer youth employment opportunities offered are provided by several partners. All partners use the online application but each has its own hiring criteria and selection procedures. This year's partners include:

MAYOR DALEY REMINDS CHICAGOANS THAT APPLICATIONS FOR THOUSANDS OF PART-TIME U.S. CENSUS JOBS ARE BEING ACCEPTED NOW!
The Mayor also announced the creation of the "Chicago Complete Count Committee", to ensure that all residents are counted when the 2010 Census begins in March.
The positions being filled by the census bureau are short-term jobs that offer good weekly pay, flexible hours and the chance to do something that helps the City and the Nation. The positions require - for the most part- that an applicant be a U.S. Citizen, have a valid Social Security number, pass a written test of basic skills and pass a background check.

CHICAGO POLICE AND FIREFIGHTER TRAINING ACADEMY
The Chicago Public Schools "Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy" (CPFTA) program provides training for students interested in careers in public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice and fire science. The 4-year program was developed jointly by Chicago Public Schools' Department of College and Career Preparation, the Chicago Police Department, the Chicago Fire Department and the City Colleges of Chicago. The program recruits and trains up to 250 public and non-public high school students each year. They are looking for high school sophomores (Class of 2012) that might be interested in applying to the program.
